It is in a small village 1h30 from Udaipur, the white city of Rājasthān, we found our dye workshop Indigo.

Indigo is a natural method of cold dyeing, known since antiquity.
There are traces of indigo culture in India 4000 years ago and its use in ancient Egypt and the Middle East for almost as long.

It requires 14 to 16 steps depending on whether one seeks to obtain 2 or 3 shades of blue, on 3 days of work and not less than 7 phases of drying. After all these steps, the pigments are completely stabilized and are fixed on the cotton.

This method uses water, wood, earth, indigo flowers, salt, air, sun and of course the hand of man.
